Park Cannon proudly identifies as a queer Black woman. She has been an active legislator on progressive issues, including homelessness, voting rights, transgender rights, and immigration. In 2017, Rep. Cannon voted against a bill that would prohibit state funding for private colleges and universities that don’t cooperate with ICE.

"The more progressive the candidates, the better chance we have of moving forward on critical local issues that affect us all. Voting for a Democrat is not enough; we have to end the business-as-usual politics and get representation that will fight for the people, not corporate interests." –Charles from Atlanta
