U.S. Congress Texas 16th District

Rep. Escobar was first elected to represent Texas’s 16th Congressional District in 2018 and has demonstrated fierce, compassionate, principled leadership from the start. She grew up in the district, which is on the Mexican border, and has become a leading voice on immigration reform, border security, gun violence prevention, and humane asylum policy. Rep. Escobar is a member of the House Democratic Leadership Team and has repeatedly called out the recklessness of the Trump administration. She most notably delivered the Spanish-language response to Trump's 2019 State of the Union address, while we were in the midst of a government shutdown because of the president's focus on building his racist border wall. We appreciate the leadership she has shown up to this point and know she will continue to make all of us proud.
