Dana has been committed to fighting for the most vulnerable for nearly all of her life—advocating for her brother with cognitive disabilities since childhood and serving others as a teacher and education director for a disability services nonprofit. She has routinely dismantled systemic barriers to quality care and support for others—both in the disability service community as an educator and through her work to increase civic engagement. After running an inspired campaign in 2018 against Republican incumbent Representative John Katko, she remains committed to guaranteeing quality, affordable health care for every person; building a fair economy that works for everyone; and getting big money out of politics so the power rests with average people, not special interests.
