In 2018, Rep. Davids made history by becoming the one of the first Native American women elected to Congress (along with Deb Haaland from New Mexico), as well as the first openly gay person to represent Kansas in Congress. She flipped a Republican-held seat by focusing her campaign on health care access, and since getting elected, she's been a courageous, principled, and inspirational progressive member of the 116th Congress. She has shown foresight and leadership on a host of issues, including accountability for insurance companies, furthering protections for survivors of domestic abuse, and government accountability in light of rampant corruption in the Trump administration. Her integrity is valued across the Democratic Party and the progressive movement.
